REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULING
Are you scheduled for a laboratory test? Not certain where the Registration Department is located at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital?
Here are some handy bits of info to help you find your way around
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and our various Outpatient Testing locations.
OUTPATIENT TESTING CENTERS
If your doctor wants you to have a laboratory test, x-ray or other
routine diagnostic procedure, you can visit one of our convenient
Outpatient Testing Centers. Hours and types of tests performed vary
by site, so please click
here to find the location most convenient for you.
FASTING
Many laboratory procedures require fasting for several hours prior
to testing. If you're unsure about fasting, check with your doctor.
PATIENT REGISTRATION
If your physician has pre-scheduled you for admission, or if you've
come to the hospital for outpatient testing, you must first check-in
at the Patient Registration area:

To help make the admission process as smooth as possible, please
remember to bring the following items:
- Insurance card/insurance information
- Physician order with diagnosis
- Type of procedure
- Photo Identification
- Referrals
- Precertification number (if necessary)
- Approved length of stay (if necessary)

ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION
Wyoming Valley Health Care System is pleased to offer our patients a convenient online pre-registration option. In addition to being more convenient, registering online can save you time. This will also allow us to communicate with your insurance company to verify benefits and eligibility, ensure that appropriate referrals and pre-authorization is obtained and to resolve any insurance concerns before your admission/testing date.
Patients who pre-register will be asked to verify their information at Registration time, present photo ID for identification purposes, sign consent forms, provide copies of insurance cards and a list of all current medications.
Please pre-register at least 24 to 48 hours prior to the day of your visit to allow adequate time for processing your information.
What you will need to Pre-Register:
- Your personal contact information
- Date & time of procedure/admission
- Physician’s name
- Insurance information (carrier name, address, phone number, policy & group number)
You can pre-register online at any time. If you have questions and need to talk to one of our staff members, please call our pre-registration area Monday through Friday at 570-552-1061 between 8:30 AM and 5 PM or at 570-552-1050 between 5 PM and 11 PM.
